All art teachers have a professional arts background . The art teachers encourage students to explore different materials available to them to use in the project. From a diverse range of resources, the students can then explain their thoughts and preferences for the items they want to use.
Not only do the arts activities connect with the theme being taught in class, but also combine with the student's life experiences .

The co-ordination of the fine arts course allows the students to gain deeper insights into the topic. This can be achieved by:

•  Encouraging the students to view the topic from different angles
•  Use lateral thinking to move from one known idea to the creation of many new ideas
•  Nurture and support of these ideas by the art teacher
•  Teacher assistance in the student's expansion of imagination

Consequently the students are able to fully express themselves with their creativity; this may happen at an individual level or in a group environment where the students must negotiate and cooperate together, further building each student's ability to work together in a team.

All of these processes described promote life skills and encourage the students to speak freely to adults about their visions , thus developing communicative competence, self-confidence and a greater understanding of self within the child.
