Usually the thematic project will follow these steps:

•  Students undertake a broad overview of the topic.

•  The students are observed and their special interests in the topic are recorded.

•  Students participate in self directed activities and group discussions

•  The teachers along with the students begin to plan activities that will narrow the focus of the theme topic.

•  Students are encouraged to ask questions and make suggestions at any time.

•  When students encounter problems they are encouraged to find answers themselves , they must apply critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities and information gathering techniques to do this.

•  Students will eventually arrive at a very narrow focus of the theme based on their interests.

•  The theme topic usually ends in the completion of a large project.

he most important aspect of theme based or project based teaching is the process of discovery and learning that the students and teachers arrive at together.
